Delete Your Account and Data
This page explains how to request deletion of your account and the personal data associated with it. It applies to the mobile application published as AITA Mobile and to the web platform at app.aita.world, both operated by AITA World, S.L., with registered office at Sabino Arana 8, 2º, 48013 Bilbao, Bizkaia, Spain, tax identification number (CIF) B75859744.
No account, installation, or purchase is required to use this page. Deletion is free of charge.
1. How to Request Deletion
Send an email from the email address of the account you want deleted — this is how we verify that the request is yours — to:
d.mekhed@aita.worldPlease include:
- Subject:
Account deletion request. - The account email address registered with AITA.
- What you want deleted: the entire account, or only specific data (for example, your uploaded files).
We reply to every request. If we cannot match the sending address to an account, we will ask you for additional details before acting — we never delete an account on an unverified request.
If you received your account from an employer or client company, you can also ask that company's workspace administrator to remove your access. See section 4.
2. What We Delete
Once your identity is confirmed, we delete:
- your profile: name, email address, phone number, username, avatar, language and interface preferences;
- your sign-in credentials and all active sessions and access tokens;
- push notification identifiers registered for your devices;
- messages you authored in personal (direct) conversations, together with their attachments;
- files you uploaded to your own personal space;
- your personal tasks, notes, and inbox items that are not shared with a company workspace.
3. What We Keep, and Why
Some records cannot be deleted on request, because Spanish and EU law requires us to keep them, or because they belong to another party:
| Data | Why it is kept | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Invoices, payment and accounting records | Legal obligation — Spanish Commercial Code (Art. 30) and tax / AML legislation | 6 to 10 years |
| Content you contributed to a company workspace (project data, company chats, shared documents) | It belongs to that company, which is the data controller for it; deleting it would destroy another party's business records | Duration of that company's relationship with AITA + 6 years |
| Security and audit logs (sign-ins, administrative actions) | Legitimate interest in security and abuse investigation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) | 12 months |
| Records of the deletion request itself | Evidence that we honoured your request (Art. 5(2) GDPR, accountability) | 3 years |
Where a record must be kept, we restrict its processing to that purpose alone: it is no longer used to operate the service or to contact you.
4. Accounts Created by a Company
AITA is a professional B2B platform, and most accounts are created inside a company workspace by that company's administrator. In that case:
- the company is the controller of the data in its workspace, and AITA acts as processor on its behalf;
- we delete your personal account and profile once the company that owns the workspace confirms it — the account was created by that company, so the request is checked with its administrator before anything is removed;
- the work content of the workspace (projects, tasks, company conversations) is deleted only at that company's request, never on the request of an individual member — it is the company's record, not yours. Ask the company to raise it with us, and we will assist them.
5. How Long It Takes
- Within 5 working days — we acknowledge your request and, if needed, verify your identity.
- Within 30 days — the account and the data listed in section 2 are deleted from our live systems. This is the GDPR deadline (Art. 12(3)); we normally complete it sooner.
- Within 90 days — the data also disappears from encrypted backups, as those rotate out. Backups are never used to restore a deleted account.
We confirm to you by email once deletion is complete.
6. Deleting Only Some Data
You do not have to delete the whole account. You can ask us to remove specific items instead — for example, files you uploaded, or a phone number on your profile — and keep using AITA. Say so in your email and name what should go.
7. Your Rights
Under the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD) you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectify (Art. 16), erase (Art. 17), restrict (Art. 18), port (Art. 20), and object to (Art. 21) the processing of your personal data. This page describes how we handle erasure; the other rights are exercised through the same address.
Full detail on what we process and why is in our Privacy Policy.
If you believe your request was not handled properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) — www.aepd.es, C/ Jorge Juan 6, 28001 Madrid.
